An Iroquois Park Halloween attraction featuring a quarter-mile trail lit by more than 5,000 pumpkins is back this fall, as the event’s changes are drawing attention from nearby businesses.
A longtime Louisville Halloween tradition is returning at Iroquois Park this fall, with families expected to spend nights walking a quarter-mile trail lined with more than 5,000 illuminated pumpkins. The attraction, described in coverage by WLKY, is bringing the familiar “pumpkin trail” experience back to the park as the event returns under a new name.
The event’s scale is a core part of its draw, with organizers lighting a walking route designed for visitors to view carved pumpkins along the trail. The WLKY report says the pumpkins will light the way throughout the event, preserving the seasonal, family-focused outing that has become part of the fall routine for many Louisville residents.
While the park attraction continues to emphasize the experience for families, the WLKY report also highlights that changes to the event have affected how nearby businesses experience foot traffic. Local business owners in the area told the outlet they have felt the impact of adjustments to the Halloween attraction, pointing to differences in when and how visitors come to the surrounding area.
For some businesses, Halloween-related events can translate into higher customer demand during evening hours when the trail is running. For others, changes to an event’s format or branding can alter patterns of walk-in customers who plan their visits around a familiar tradition.
The WLKY report frames the return as a balance between maintaining a well-known fall activity at the park and adapting the event’s structure and identity. The coverage indicates the pumpkin-lit trail remains the central feature for visitors, even as the event itself operates under a new name.
As the season continues, the impact on the surrounding business district is likely to remain a point of observation for both event planners and local merchants, especially given how closely fall tourism and evening outings can influence small business operations in the days leading up to major holidays.
