Mayor Linda Gorton said Tuesday that residents in Lexington and Fayette County should submit damage reports to the city’s 311 system after flash flooding earlier this week.
Residents of Lexington and Fayette County are being urged to report damage they saw or experienced from Monday’s flash flooding, Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton said in a press release issued Tuesday.
The mayor’s message directed residents to use 311 to report damage sustained during the flooding, including impacts to property that residents believe require follow-up from city services and other response partners.
In the release, Gorton said the reporting step is intended to help local officials catalog affected areas and respond to damage claims in a timely way, rather than relying only on informal reports or individual outreach.
The push for reporting comes after the flash flooding on Monday, when weather-related flooding prompted concern for property and public safety across parts of the county and city.
The mayor’s office did not provide damage totals or a list of specific neighborhoods in the announcement, focusing instead on the process for getting incidents on record through the 311 system.
