LMPD seeks public help identifying person possibly connected to Highlands shooting

Louisville Metro Police Department’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is asking the public for help identifying a person they believe may be connected to a shooting in the Highlands area early Sunday, according to LMPD. The unit said the shooting occurred at about 2:32 a.m. on June 21 in the 1200 block of Bardstown Road.

Detectives said the case is being investigated as part of LMPD’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit efforts. The request for information centers on obtaining information that could lead to identifying a person police believe is involved, but the department did not provide additional description details in the initial public notice.

LMPD’s message to residents focused on visibility and documentation, urging anyone who may have information about what happened early Sunday to contact investigators. The department did not state, in the public announcement, whether the investigation is linked to other incidents or whether police have a suspect in custody.

The shooting location in the 1200 block of Bardstown Road is in a residential and commercial corridor that can be affected by early-morning disturbances, with residents potentially impacted by noise, police activity, and road disruptions during the investigation. Investigators typically rely on witness statements and any available video or other evidence to determine what happened and to identify individuals involved in shootings.

The Non-Fatal Shooting Unit said the incident was reported at about 2:32 a.m. Sunday, which places the event in the period when many people are at home or returning from late-night activity. Police often request information from nearby residents and businesses, particularly those with surveillance cameras, because video can help clarify the sequence of events.

As the investigation continues, LMPD’s next steps are expected to focus on following up with tips and integrating any new information into the detectives’ case file. Police also generally encourage members of the public to provide details such as what they saw or heard, where they were located relative to the scene, and whether they observed any vehicles or individuals leaving the area.

Anyone with information related to the shooting is being asked to contact Louisville Metro Police so investigators can evaluate the information and determine whether it leads to additional evidence or arrests.
