The Louisville-based Catholic Education Foundation said it has passed its fundraising target for a tuition-assistance effort that will help fund scholarships for students attending Catholic schools in the region.
The Louisville Catholic Education Foundation announced Monday that it has passed its campaign goal, reporting it has raised $115 million to expand tuition assistance for Catholic school students. The foundation said the funds will be used to support current scholarship needs and to help sustain future assistance for families seeking affordable options for K-12 Catholic education.
According to WAVE, the campaign’s outcome means the foundation will now be positioned to direct more resources to tuition support as students enroll for the school year. The announcement follows years in which Catholic schools have leaned on scholarship programs and philanthropy to close tuition gaps for families who otherwise would face steep cost barriers.
WAVE reported that the foundation’s raised funds are intended both to provide tuition assistance and to support future scholarship opportunities. The foundation’s stated emphasis on scholarships indicates the money is not simply for one-time aid, but rather for continuing financial support tied to its programs for eligible students.
The campaign results also reflect ongoing financial pressure on private education providers, where tuition frequently does not cover the full cost of instruction. Scholarship and tuition-assistance models are often designed to keep schools open and maintain enrollment while helping limit the burden on families who may be affected by household budgets and local economic conditions.
The foundation’s announcement does not detail in the WAVE report how the funds will be allocated across specific school years, or whether assistance levels will be adjusted for particular grade levels. The foundation’s next steps, based on the reported campaign framing, will likely focus on distributing awards and administering scholarship eligibility through its existing program structure.
For families, the campaign update may affect timing and expectations around tuition-assistance availability, particularly for students applying or re-enrolling in Catholic schools. For administrators and donors, the reported total also provides a public benchmark for progress toward long-term scholarship commitments.
The foundation’s campaign passing its target adds another example of how local philanthropy continues to play a role in education access in Louisville, where Catholic schools operate as private institutions rather than districts. The announcement underscores that scholarship funding remains a key mechanism for sustaining those schools’ tuition models and enrollment stability.
