Louisville man accused of kidnapping a Grindr date at gunpoint to steal money, PlayStation, and a car

A Louisville man was arrested after police alleged he kidnapped a person he met through the Grindr app, held him at gunpoint, and threatened to kill him unless the victim did not go to police, according to a report published Aug. 27 by WLKY.

WLKY reported that investigators said the alleged incident began when the two arranged to meet. After the meeting, police allege the suspect forced the victim into a kidnapping scenario and kept him under threat while demanding money, culminating in a series of threats meant to deter the victim from contacting law enforcement.

The report said police allege the suspect took property from the victim, including a PlayStation. WLKY also reported that police alleged the suspect stole the victim’s car and took money during the incident.

According to WLKY, police said the suspect also threatened to kill the victim if he went to the police. Investigators characterized the threats as part of the alleged effort to keep the victim from reporting what happened.

The suspect was taken into custody after the alleged assault and threats, WLKY reported. The arrest underscores how quickly investigators moved to respond once the alleged victim sought help, particularly given the use of a firearm threat and intimidation claims.
