City leaders marked the festival’s final day as the long-running community event entered its 232nd year, with organizers calling it Kentucky’s oldest festival.
The Court Days Festival in Mount Sterling and Montgomery County concluded its final day on October 18, according to WKYT, marking the event’s 232nd year. The wrap-up ended another installment of the annual celebration that residents and local officials have long associated with the city’s local traditions and civic calendar.
WKYT reported that city leaders described Court Days as Kentucky’s oldest festival. The claim centers on the event’s long history and continued local participation, with organizers using the occasion to highlight the milestone and the festival’s longevity across generations.
The final day concluded activities that had drawn participants and attendees over the festival’s multi-day run. WKYT’s coverage focused on the closing of the program rather than any single headline event, and it presented the conclusion as a community milestone tied to Montgomery County’s ongoing public life.
For residents, Court Days serves as a recurring gathering point that brings families into the same shared public spaces for organized programming. In addition to its entertainment value, the festival functions as an annual test of how well local planning, coordination, and community readiness hold up during a period of increased activity.
City leadership framed the 232nd-year completion as a confirmation of the festival’s staying power, pointing to the uninterrupted relevance of the event in Mount Sterling’s identity. WKYT’s report did not detail specific attendance counts or financial figures, focusing instead on the milestone anniversary and the end of the most recent cycle.
Organizers and city officials typically treat year-end festival wrap-ups as a chance to tally what worked and to prepare for next year’s planning, including logistics and coordination with public services. With this year’s event now concluded, the next steps are expected to involve post-event review and scheduling decisions for the following installment of Court Days.
As Court Days moves on from its most recent 232nd year, the community continues to look at how the festival can preserve long-standing traditions while maintaining the practical requirements of public events, from crowd management to orderly access in the areas where programming is staged. WKYT’s report framed the completion as a milestone in that ongoing effort.
