Trump said his political operation will spend more than $400 million to support Republican candidates in races he described as most vulnerable, while the Republican National Committee confirmed a $50 million transfer as the party pushes into the final stretch of the midterm election.
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that his political operation will spend more than $400 million to support GOP candidates in the final phase of the midterm election campaign, framing the late effort as targeted help for races he characterized as most vulnerable. The announcement came less than two weeks before Election Day, as both party-aligned groups and national committees move to concentrate funding in competitive districts and states.
Trump’s statement described the spending as part of a last-minute push by his political operation, according to The Hill. The report said the effort is aimed at providing additional resources to Republican candidates facing difficult paths to election as the calendar narrows.
Separately, the Republican National Committee confirmed it is transferring $50 million, also described by The Hill as tied to the same final stretch of the election. The transfer was presented as an added infusion meant to bolster the party’s operation in close races during the home stretch.
The late-stage spending plan underscores how national party infrastructure and presidential political operations can work in tandem during midterm elections. With just days left before voters begin or complete final casting, resources typically prioritize field operations, voter-contact activities, and communications directed at specific constituencies in districts and states the party views as at greatest risk.
Election timing can affect how quickly political organizations deploy money, and the push also highlights the compliance and disclosure systems governing political finance in the United States. Candidates and party groups generally must follow federal and state rules for contributions, expenditures, and reporting, even when funding is concentrated late in the cycle.
The Hill’s account places Trump’s announcement and the RNC transfer in the context of a broader effort by Republicans to strengthen their position in midterm contests. The report did not provide additional details on specific races, candidate names, or the breakdown of spending categories in its summary.
As Election Day approaches, the next practical step for the Trump-aligned operation and the RNC is execution of the announced budgets, including staffing and outreach, within applicable election and political finance rules. Observers are likely to focus on how quickly the groups translate the funding into on-the-ground activity and how federal and state reporting schedules capture the late spending.
The reporting also sets up the political calendar for follow-on disclosures once the final reporting periods begin, allowing outside observers to evaluate the totals and timing of the announced transfers and expenditures. Any subsequent updates are expected to appear through required campaign and committee filings and related public records.
