The provider is continuing service in the eastern Kentucky area that LEX18 describes as receiving some of the fastest connectivity in the country.
PRTC is continuing to provide internet service to residents across Jackson and Owsley Counties, the company said in coverage by LEX18 on June 24, describing the service footprint as an ongoing effort focused on rural connectivity.
The report says PRTC has served the two counties for much of the last two decades, with the goal of delivering internet access that, according to LEX18, ranks among the fastest available in the country to households in the region.
In the coverage, the provider’s continued role is framed around keeping residents connected for everyday needs such as school work, household communications, and access to online services that depend on reliable broadband. The reporting also ties the company’s work to the broader challenge of extending modern communications infrastructure to sparsely populated areas.
PRTC’s emphasis on connectivity in Jackson and Owsley County is presented as part of a long-term service approach rather than a short-term pilot. LEX18’s description indicates that the provider has built and maintained its network over time to sustain access for local communities.
The LEX18 piece does not outline a specific construction timetable or a change in rates or service tiers in its summary, but it presents the provider’s continued operations as a continuing local infrastructure commitment. The report also characterizes the service as supporting the community’s day-to-day connectivity needs over time.
Because rural broadband can affect families and local institutions differently than it does in larger metro areas, the company’s ongoing service is likely to remain a practical issue for Jackson and Owsley County residents as they rely on internet access for education, health communications, and business operations that require online connectivity.
The next steps for residents, per the scope of the published reporting, would be to continue monitoring local broadband availability and service performance through PRTC’s customer-facing channels, particularly as needs evolve for schools, employers, and households. If additional changes in network coverage or service policies are announced, those would determine how the provider’s local service footprint develops.
For now, the LEX18 coverage presents PRTC’s local presence as a long-running effort to keep rural Jackson and Owsley County communities connected, citing the company’s track record over roughly two decades and describing the service as among the fastest available in the country for the area.
