The Louisville-based restaurant chain submitted paperwork for what would be its third location in the Louisville area, according to a local news report.
Swig has filed a permit for a new location in east Louisville, a WAVE report said Friday. The filing would, if approved and completed, mark Swig’s third location in the Louisville metro area.
The report said the company’s permit submission is part of the process required before construction or site work can begin at the proposed property. The permit filing triggers review by city officials and may include additional steps such as plan review and inspections, depending on the scope of the project.
WAVE’s report characterized the east Louisville site as the next expansion location for the chain within the metro area. A new opening would represent continued growth for Swig’s footprint in Louisville, following its existing stores.
Public filings of this type can also affect nearby residents and businesses, since site work, construction staging, and eventual traffic patterns often depend on what the permit authorizes. In similar cases, city review typically focuses on compliance with local building and safety requirements.
While the permit filing indicates Swig is moving forward with a planned project, it does not, by itself, confirm that the location will open on any specific timeline. Further city determinations, approvals, and inspections would be required before any work proceeds beyond what the permit allows.
The next step, according to the permitting process described in coverage of such filings, is completion of municipal review. Once that review is finished and any conditions are met, Swig would be positioned to proceed with the permitted work toward opening the new east Louisville restaurant.
For Louisville, an additional Swig location would also mean continued investment tied to local commercial development, including potential impacts on staffing needs, customer traffic, and ongoing tax contributions associated with operating a new retail and restaurant site.
Residents in the area typically receive the clearest picture of the project’s path after additional public notice, permit approvals, and construction milestones, rather than at the initial submission stage.
