Vehicle fire shuts down section of I-75 in Lexington near Exit 120

A vehicle fire shut down a section of Interstate 75 in Lexington late Monday night, forcing a full closure of lanes on the southbound side of the highway near Exit 120 (mile marker 119), WKYT reported.

The report said all lanes were closed in the affected area as responders worked on the scene. The closure was in effect as of the time of WKYT’s update at 9:44 p.m. ET on Aug. 5, 2026.

Officials had stopped traffic through the impacted segment to address the fire and associated safety concerns on the interstate, WKYT said.

The shutdown near the Exit 120 interchange disrupted travel through the Lexington area on I-75’s southbound side, affecting motorists headed toward points south of the city.
