THE APEX TIMES
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Moscow is seeking to exhaust Ukraine, as reports describe intensified daytime drone activity over the Ukrainian capital and a heightened Kremlin response to battlefield developments.
Russia increased drone attacks over Ukraine in late August, with one report saying Moscow launched nearly 1,500 drones over a four-day period and that the pattern included more daytime strikes that disrupted life in Kyiv. The report also characterized the escalation as part of Vladimir Putin’s renewed pressure campaign, tied to broader fears about how and when the war could end.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in connection with the attacks that Russia is aiming to exhaust Ukraine. In the account published on Aug. 31, Zelenskyy’s remarks focused on the practical objective of wearing down Ukrainian defenses and staying power rather than a single battlefield event, with the drone tempo presented as one tool to sustain pressure.
The report described a shift in timing that could complicate air-defense planning. Instead of confining attacks to overnight hours, it said drone activity increasingly occurred during the day, increasing the likelihood of interruptions to work, travel, and other normal routines in Kyiv and surrounding areas.
The Kremlin-linked escalation was described as “new fury” by the reporting outlet, with the narrative tied to an expectation that Russia wants to lengthen the conflict. While the operational details of targeting are not provided in the item, the central claim is that sustained drone use is being used to maintain pressure and hinder a clean trajectory toward a near-term end.
The Ukrainian military response is not detailed in the item beyond the broader assertion that Moscow is seeking to exhaust Ukraine. For Kyiv residents and businesses, the practical effect of daytime attacks is that alerts and protective measures can fall during commuting and operating hours, raising safety risks and increasing strain on emergency services and critical infrastructure protection.
The next phase of the story will likely depend on how both sides characterize changes in attack patterns and on whether Kyiv’s air defenses can adapt to the increased day coverage. Additional reporting on claimed strike outcomes, drone interception rates, and any official Russian or Ukrainian statements about targets would be needed to assess the full impact of the escalation described in the Aug. 31 report.
