The “Walking Dead” mainstay has boarded Apple TV’s upcoming spy thriller “Disavowed,” which will pair him with James Marsden, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Apple TV’s upcoming spy thriller “Disavowed” has added Norman Reedus to its cast, The Hollywood Reporter reported on Aug. 31, 2026. The series is set to star Reedus opposite James Marsden, with both actors attached as principal leads for the project.
The announcement places Reedus, best known as a mainstay from AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” in a new genre pivot for streaming television. The project, titled “Disavowed,” is described in the reporting as a spy thriller, indicating a shift in tone from Reedus’s prior long-running television role.
The Hollywood Reporter’s report does not, in the information provided here, specify plot details, character names, production start dates, or a release window. It also does not outline whether the series is an adaptation of previously released material, nor does it list additional cast members beyond the Reedus and Marsden pairing.
“Disavowed” is an Apple TV series, adding another scripted project to the platform’s expanding slate of original programming. Reedus’s casting, if it proceeds as scheduled, would bring a familiar television presence to a new international-and-intelligence flavored premise typical of the spy-thriller format.
For audiences, the casting update is likely to be especially consequential for viewers who follow Reedus’s career trajectory from “The Walking Dead” to other serialized roles. For the industry, pairing Reedus with Marsden may be seen as a strategy for attracting viewers across different fan bases tied to long-form television drama.
The reporting included by The Hollywood Reporter, as provided, is limited to the casting development. Additional production details, including shooting locations, episode count, and the creative team responsible for the series, were not included in the available facts for this write-up.
Next steps for the project, based on standard production timelines for streaming series, would include completing casting, confirming filming schedules, and announcing further information about the creative staff and release timing. Until those details are confirmed by Apple TV or the production company, the practical impact remains focused on the lead actor lineup.
Reedus’s attachment to “Disavowed” also underscores how established television performers continue to move into streaming-led franchises, where platforms often prioritize recognizable stars for early audience awareness ahead of full marketing rollouts.
