“Small Prophets” began with a BBC debut earlier in the series’ rollout, appearing first on BBC iPlayer and then on BBC television. Deadline’s report said the Apple TV+ agreement follows a transaction with Sphere Abacus, which was involved in the rights deal for the project.

Mackenzie Crook, known for both acting and writing, is the central creative figure behind the series. Deadline described the project as a comedy-drama, positioning it in a hybrid genre space that typically blends serialized character storytelling with humor, rather than a purely comedic format or straightforward drama.
