Billboard reports that Gaga Music and Warp Publishing, both independent music businesses, are forming a new partnership and have worked together since 2017.
Gaga Music and Warp Publishing have announced a new partnership, a deal Billboard reported on Aug. 31, 2026. The announcement comes in the context of an active music-publishing labor dispute described in the report as a strike, with the companies framing the agreement around how rights and catalogs are managed during the disruption.
According to the Billboard report, the two businesses have worked together since 2017, indicating the relationship predates the current labor conflict. The new partnership is presented as an extension of that earlier cooperation, rather than a one-off arrangement tied only to the strike period.
Billboard’s coverage focuses on the publishing side of the music business and how publishing companies coordinate licensing, administration, and related rights functions. While the report centers on the partnership announcement, it also links the timing to the broader uncertainty created by the strike.
The companies did not, in Billboard’s account, provide public details in the same framing as major corporate merger announcements, such as financial terms or changes in ownership. Instead, the reporting emphasizes operational alignment between the two independent publishing businesses as they continue to work within the constraints of the strike environment.
The practical effect for rights holders and industry partners is that the partnership is expected to influence how music publishing services are coordinated during the dispute, including how catalogs are administered and how work flows between affiliated organizations.
For creators, songwriters, and music publishers, labor actions in publishing can affect licensing timelines and administrative workflows even when studios and recording labels are not directly involved. In that sense, the Gaga Music-Warp Publishing agreement is notable as an attempt to maintain business continuity through a period when standard processes are disrupted.
The next step will be how the partnership is implemented in day-to-day rights administration and whether it affects how businesses and rights holders handle licensing requests and publishing-related services while the strike remains in place, as further details emerge from the companies and the broader music industry.
In the meantime, Billboard’s report establishes that the announcement is both timely and rooted in a longer working relationship, with Gaga Music and Warp Publishing stating they have collaborated since 2017 before expanding their arrangement amid the strike.
