Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry will mark Dolly Parton during a tribute event scheduled for tonight, with speakers spotlighting her humanitarian work and her long-running effort to expand early childhood reading through the Imagination Library.
Tonight in Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry will stage a star-studded tribute to Dolly Parton, according to CBS News. The program is designed as a public remembrance of Parton’s career and her work beyond music, including her charity efforts tied to literacy for young children.
In coverage tied to the event, CBS News highlighted Parton’s reported affection for the nickname “book lady,” an image she embraced publicly in connection with her foundation’s reading initiative. The tribute comes as major country music institutions and media outlets continue to draw attention to Parton’s philanthropic footprint as well as her music legacy.
Parton’s humanitarian work is centered in part on the Imagination Library, a program CBS News described as promoting literacy by distributing books to young readers. The CBS segment characterizes the effort as a major component of Parton’s public giving and her emphasis on children’s access to reading materials.
CBS News also cited the role of Dollywood Foundation leadership in sustaining and publicizing the initiative. Jeff Conyers, identified by the network as the president of the Dollywood Foundation, appeared on “CBS Saturday Morning” to discuss Parton’s charitable impact and the reasoning behind the organization’s literacy focus.
The television segment tied to tonight’s Opry tribute further connects Parton’s public persona to reading advocacy, focusing on how the “book lady” label reflects the coalition of entertainment and community services that has surrounded the Imagination Library. The framing in the CBS report centers on the practical aim of getting books into the hands of children at an early age, rather than on any single entertainment milestone.
While the CBS News item did not detail every performer or the full schedule for the Opry program, it established the key elements of the commemoration: the venue is the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, the timing is tonight, and the discussion of Parton’s legacy includes her charitable work through the Imagination Library. Conyers’ remarks on the foundation’s literacy work are presented as part of the broader public recap leading into the tribute.
As preparations proceed for the event, the CBS reporting positions the Opry tribute as a culture moment that blends mainstream country music visibility with a charitable mission aimed at literacy. The Dollywood Foundation president’s comments underscore that the organization’s mission remains linked to book access and early reading outcomes, themes expected to be central to the remembrance.
For audiences, the Opry tribute functions as a widely visible acknowledgment of Parton’s broader community role, offering a renewed spotlight on a program intended to support reading development among young children through regular book distribution. The CBS report sets the terms of that focus ahead of the live event in Nashville tonight.
