Apple TV’s “Shrinking” won the Outstanding Comedy Ensemble honor during a ceremony at the Lido Theatre in Newport Beach, with Ed O’Neill presenting the award as cast members and presenters discussed what comes next for the series.
Apple TV’s comedy “Shrinking” won the Outstanding Comedy Ensemble award at the Newport Beach TV Festival, with Ed O’Neill presenting the prize during an event at the 86-year-old Lido Theatre, according to Deadline’s report from Newport Beach this week.
The ceremony came as part of the festival’s four-day program, the outlet said. Immediately after a moderator introduced the cast onstage, O’Neill appeared at the historic venue to present the award to members of “Shrinking’s” ensemble cast.
Deadline reported attending the festival’s cast panel and moderation session with the “Shrinking” team, describing the gathering as lively and focused on the series’ continued development. The festival setting placed the program in a public venue rather than at a private studio screening or industry party, with the award presented at the theater where public performances and events take place.
Alongside the recognition for ensemble work, Jason Segel, a central figure in the series, offered “clues” about a possible direction for season 4, Deadline said. The report did not provide detailed specifics in the summary, but it states Segel used remarks during the festival appearance to indicate what viewers may expect from the show’s next chapter.
The award highlights ensemble performance in comedy, with Deadline characterizing the cast’s recognition as reflecting the show’s group dynamics and cast-driven writing and acting. The festival’s Outstanding Comedy Ensemble category also indicates the event’s focus on series craft, including how multiple performers share screen space and narrative responsibility.
Representatives for the festival and the series did not announce any formal release date in Deadline’s summary, and the outlet’s account emphasizes the festival remarks and award moment as the primary developments from the Newport Beach event.
For “Shrinking,” the Newport Beach TV Festival honor adds to the show’s visibility within the awards and industry circuit as streaming series continue to compete for attention from audiences and exhibitors, while also offering cast members a public forum to discuss their work and upcoming seasons. The next step for viewers and industry observers will be to track any additional announcements that follow Segel’s comments and the festival ceremony.
