Ahead of its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival, TrustNordisk has unveiled a teaser trailer and expanded distribution deals for May el-Toukhy’s post-World War Two psychological drama.
TrustNordisk has released new international package details and a teaser trailer for Woman Unknown, a psychological drama directed by May el-Toukhy that is set in post-World War Two Denmark. The company says the film is scheduled to have its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival, positioning it for early audience and market attention at one of Europe’s most prominent film events.
The announcement frames the new teaser as part of a broader push to bring the film to additional territories following earlier distribution moves. TrustNordisk reported that it has already announced a sale to Italy through Lucky Red, and it said it has now finalized more deals to extend the film’s release footprint across multiple regions.
According to the report, TrustNordisk has sealed distribution agreements for Benelux with September Films and for Latin America with California Filmes. The company’s update indicates that the film’s rights have been segmented by territory, a common approach in festival-to-market releases that aims to align local marketing and theatrical or platform strategies with each distributor’s regional plan.
Woman Unknown centers on a Denmark-set story in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War, with TrustNordisk describing it as a psychological drama. The postwar setting places the film in a historical context where questions of security, displacement, and social disruption are often central to storytelling, and it also places the production within a category of European dramas that rely on atmosphere and character-driven tension rather than genre spectacle.
The new trailer release comes as the film heads toward Venice competition selection, which typically increases the visibility of both the director’s work and the participating production and sales partners. For distributors, festival premieres can function as a public test of audience and critical response, often helping confirm release schedules and marketing priorities once the film’s reception becomes visible.
TrustNordisk’s update also underscores the operational role sales agencies and production companies play between completion of a film and its arrival on screens. By announcing territory-specific deals alongside a teaser trailer, the company is effectively connecting promotional materials with rights execution, giving regional partners content to promote to exhibitors, press, and platform buyers.
